Husband eligible for BC; Wife not yet ILR

Post by princerasputin » Sat May 19, 2012 10:51 pm

Hi all,

Came across this forum as am hoping to clarify on the subject of British Citizenship (BC) and status of my dependent wife.

I am eligible to proceed with my application for BC but my wife is still on ILR Dependent visa (she still has approximately 17 months left to go for her ILR).

Question- Does my wife have to re-apply for a new dependent visa (BC dependent) if I change my status to a BC now OR can she continue with her ILR dependent visa until she becomes eligible to apply for her ILR after 17 months without changing her current status (ILR dependent).

Many thanks!

There is no need for her to "switch visa" as it's the same visa for spouse of BC and spouse of a person settled in the UK.
