What was your wife's immigration category before she was granted settlement?
What is your and your children's immigration category? Do you have valid leave .. or has it expired? Give dates.
Were any of the children born in UK?
Life isn't fair, but you can be!

Am I correct in saying that she applied for settlement under (10 year) long residence?

Apply for the UK-born-children to be registered as British citizens.
When registered, apply for British passports for them.

If you do not qualify for settlement under long residence before your current leave expires, then you should switch to FLR(M) (the earlier the better and definitely before your current leave expires).
