Permanent Residence/Abcenses discretion

Post by brandnew77 » Sun May 20, 2012 11:58 pm

Hi to all,
I was wondering if someone could give me an opinion about the following.

Me and my wife are in our fifth year of residence in UK,and so far so good, but now we are facing the dilema of getting a cruise ship job, meaning we will be out for 6 months and more and that will be in our last year in which BA allows 90 days abcences. So I also red the discretion section where it says that they disregard excesive abcences due to compelling occupational reasons and on one PDF file I saw saying that these might include merchant seamen, but I still have my doubts.

So my concern is if there is any chance that we will talk to our last year by going to ships.Any competent opinions about this?I am EEA and my wife non-EEA.

Thanks
