Hello,
I've been in the UK for about half a decade as a student and never had issues managing my debt until last year. For several months I had no money and ended up with a CCJ.
I need to switch to a tier 2 from tier 4 now (I have a job offer from a willing sponsor). I would obviously be declaring the CCJ and explaining that I incurred an unanticipated cost of £15,000 last year and my family stepped in to support me by directly covering all costs excluding debt, so I couldn't service debt and didn't know how to handle it. The amount owed is small and only a small fraction if my net income on the new job, which is a very high-paying prestigious job.
I haven't settled the CCJ yet. I may plead with my family to loan me the money and clear the debt before applying for a Tier 2 visa.
The question I have is: will the visa automatically be declined?
Will having the CCJ paid and evidence that all debts have been fully settled change this?
