Can Tier 2 Dependent visa holder work in the UK?

Post by PN_UK » Thu May 24, 2012 12:14 pm

Hi,

My wife who has a tier 2 dependent visa holder (valid from 01/05/12 to 31/04/15) work in the UK?

I have heard from different sources that the rules have changed recently and dependent visa holders are not allowed to work in the UK anymore. But I have not seen this anywhere on the UK BA website.

Can somebody please help?

Thanks

Thanks - so it clearly says for a Doctor or dentist but specifies nothing for other jobs.

Can you also confirm if this rule has not changed recently?

Had anything changed, it would have been incorporated in the immigration rules.

And your spouse has already been issued leave ... and the rules on the date that she applied for such leave are relevant (to her).

Hi,

Sorry for asking this question again also the link below is not working.

I am working here on 'Tier 2 ICT short term staff migrant' and my visa validity is 19/02/2015 to 14/02/2016.

My wife has the dependent visa 'Tier 2 ICT short term staff migrant partner' with same validity period: 19/02/2015 to 14/02/2016. The letter of Maintenance for her visa is issued by my company.

My questions:
1. Whether she can work in UK as a full time worker.
2. In future I would switch from Tier 2 ICT short term to Tier 2 ICT long term and would apply the same for her as a dependent (partner). Whether she can still work as a full time worker.

Please reply and post link of authentic source to justify this.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks Vinny for this.

It states that the dependent should not 319 D (b) i, ii, iii, iv and v but has no mention of whether the dependent can work in any other category.

By this can we imply that the dependent can work in UK except to jobs mentioned in 319 D (b)?

Please clarify if you have details on this.
