Can i bring my mother to the uk?

Post by sharon1985 » Thu May 24, 2012 10:06 pm

Hi, I have recently become British Citizen and I would like to bring my 61 years mother over here as she lives alone in Colombia, she dont have any relatives whatsoever and i am the only daughter, there is not dad. I support her with a financial income every month but I earn minimum wage over here as i work as a waitress, she dont have any earnings o propertys so can she qualified for benefits/working visa over here as a mother of a british citizen as i dont own any propertys and i live in a shared house.

Thank you very much for the answer.

Being under 65, her age is against her. She would need be living in extreme compassionate circumstances to qualify for settlement. That means a combination of complete indigence and/or chronic illness with no local support from other family.

Do you support her in entirety (she has no financial resources or income of her own) or do you merely embellish her small income? You can't get definite answers on this issue by asking a forum to comment on very little information; you need to speak to an immigration adviser, who can examine in detail the entire circumstances.
