International Driving Licence

Post by peejaycee » Fri May 25, 2012 11:41 am

My wife is Fili[pina and has just arrived on a newly-issued spouse visa, valid for two years. She has a full Philippines Driving licence and also a full International licence, issued in Philippines. I assume the Philippines licence is not accepted here - but believe she can be put on my insurance and use the International licence until she gets a British one. I also believe she can only use the International licence for a max of 6 motnhs. Can anyone please confirm?

Driving in GB on a foreign licence
Driving on licences from all other countries, and students on a foreign licence wrote:If you are the holder of an ordinary driving licence or a valid international driving permit, you can drive any category of small vehicle shown on your licence. You will be able to drive for up to 12 months from the time you became a resident.
As for the insurance, you'll need to check with your insurance provider.
