received approval letter but address wrong

Post by ajs » Mon May 28, 2012 1:25 pm

Apologies if duplicate but I couldn't find any similar posts regarding an address issue I have.

I received ILR approval letter on 26th but the address printed on the approval letter and delivery address on the parcel with documents is wrong, somehow they got the flat number wrong, luckily my neighbour passed me the documents.

Does anyone know how I can get my address corrected? I'm worried as they might have the wrong address in their records too. And my BRP as well might be delivered to my neightbour.

Please help.

You need to send an email to BRPDelivery@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk as soon as possible.

Tell them your case id, dob, correct address and ask them to send the BRPs on your correct address.

If they have already dispatched BRPs, they can still instruct the courier company to send them at your correct address.

As long as they correct your address in their systems and deliver the BRPs to your correct address, the approval letter doesn’t have much significance (especially after you receive your BRPs).

Also I have noticed that apart from first page of the approval letter which only tells you about the delivery of your BRP(s) and doesn’t say that your ILR has been approved, the rest of the letter is just a general template and doesn’t contain your name, address or case id anywhere.

Hi linkers,

I received response from them about my request to resend approval letter with corect address:
"We regret that we are unable to assist with your enquiry. You should re-direct your enquiry to your caseworker in writing."

This is confusing me now. And it looks to me that there are two things here, the letter is generated by case work and a request is sent out to the BRP team to send out the BRP card, the BRP guys have corrected it on there system but the case worker should correct it on his system. Am I corerct in saying so?

That’s what I thought that the BRP department is separate from the case worker. I don’t think so this would cause any problem and you don’t really need to let Home Office know about it.

You can’t use the change of circumstances form as it’s only for PBS migrants and since you got ILR, you are no longer a PBS migrant but you can still call UKBA and take their advice on it.
