Please help: Children born to Irish parent in UK

Hi everybody,

Hope you are well. In my previous post, some members confirmed that my children who were born in UK to Irish father is British from birth. Therefore, I went to the post office to get forms filled in and supplied father's passport and marriage certificate. But got declined from the 'check&send' service saying neither of us were British. Therefore, we can't go through that process. We have to go to the naturalisation process. If that is the case, can anyone send me a link of the relevant immigration law, please?

I would be extremely grateful on any comments. I thought father's Irish passport and birth certificate is sufficient.

The PO staff were wrong. They just provide a service. They are not the decision makers. IPS are. I suggest you call IPS on 0300 222 0000 and ask for advice from the nationality team. You can either try again with the PO or apply by post (without check&send).

I just tried to call the number you provided and they said they would get back to me later on due to no response of nationality team.

Thank you a lot, Jambo, for all your help. I called the IPS again this morning and the woman I spoke to was very nice and confirmed what you told me and suggested the same as you did - sending the application without through check and send service. So this is sorted! Thank you again!
