Settlement Visa (65+)

Post by reshu1596 » Wed Oct 04, 2006 4:04 pm

Hi: I am 65+ and my daughter lives in the UK. She has a work permit now. My son is settled in the US. I would like to apply for settlement visa. I was reveiwing the information at http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk, it says the following for settlement visa:

"evidence that your sponsor (the relative you are applying to join) is settled in the UK, such as a certified copy of their passport or registration certificate"

Any ideas on what status my daugther has to be in? Does she have to be a citizen of the UK?

Thanks
Ray

Almost certainly she has to be a British citizen or permanent resident (work permit won't do). And even then, there are additional requirements.

Others with more knowledge of the Immigration Rules may want to comment further.

definitely impossible as per rules in WP related cateogry, but had relaxations in past on compassionate circumstances.

you can try your luck. in case of refusal, you may not be able to obtain visit visas to UK in future
