Do I need British passport to surrender my Indian passport?

Post by mandhan » Mon Jun 04, 2012 7:22 pm

Hello,

I wanted to know if one has to wait until the receipt of the British passport before surrendering the Indian passport or it can be done using the naturalisation certificate.

I will acquire the british citizenship on the day of my oath ceremony and hence should be able to surrender my Indian passport using the naturalisation certificate that I receive on the day.

http://in.vfsglobal.co.uk/pdf/Applicati ... .02.12.pdf and also http://in.vfsglobal.co.uk/surrender_checklist.html mentions the need of British passport details.

Can please some one confirm if this is the case? I have some time constraints and thought I can save time by not waiting until my British passport comes and surrender Indian passport as soon as I receive the naturalisation certificate.

Regards,
mandhan
