When does Tier1 (General) open for applications

Hi all,

Is anybody aware when the UK border agency start taking applications for the tier 1 general category? Currently on their website, it shows that the category is currently closed..

it is closed - it won't reopen for new applicants.

THanks for the info.. I thought as much. But please let me know if I have to get a work permit for the UK how should I now go about it? Or is it only possible to get one if I have already been offered a job in the UK,.
I have completed my post graduation from the UK in 2009. So i was wondering if I can apply for a work permit in either general or post study category? (or something similar)

the available categories are set out on the UKBA website. Post study work is closed and you have to apply within 12 months of being awarded your UK qualification anyway.

there is no 'general' 'work permit'.

Have a look at the UKBA website at the categories available and whether you qualify.
