ILR Success - Solihull PEO - 7 June 2012

Post by scrapper » Thu Jun 07, 2012 1:45 pm

We "myself and wife" have recevied ILR after spending 5 years as a Work Permit holder. My case was very straight forward same employer through out 5 years and only 14 days absence.

My Experience

We had appointment for 09:30am

We reached 08:50am Solihull PEO, I live in Birmingham so only took 20 minutes to reach PEO.

There was a queue of 9 families ahead of me.

Took around 20 minutes to get through the queue.

Security searched and issued us a token number with barcode on it.

09:40, we were sitting in side and waiting for our number to be called.

09:50, our number was called and we went to see the Case Worker.

Coversation with case worker.

Good morning, how are you, good thanks.
You are applying for Indefinite Leave to Remain, Yes
Can I have your application form and passports.
I handed over mine and 2 x wife's passport.
He started feeding our details in the computer, took around 20 minutes
He asked for LIUK results and employer letter.

It took him around 20 minutes, he kept looking on my passport and employer letter, and finally he said, your work permit was issued for which company.

I told him, the work permit was issued for XX company and then later my company submitted a technical change which was approved, I offered him the proof and he accepted. He apologized and said he was confused that my current company name does not match the original work permit entry clearance.

He then asked for 3 x Pay slips and 3 x bank statements recent.

He told me that he has to do some checks and will be back shortly.

It took him about 10 minutes and came back,

He then asked for Cohab documents, I gave him.

Electarol cards for both myself and wife.
City Council bills
water and electric bills
wife bank statements
He said thats enough documents.

He then took 5 minutes and said the magic word, Go to the payment counter and pay the fee and come back.

I went to payment counter and paid 2066 GBP by using my credit card.

He said now please go to Biometric for finger prints and photos.

We went to bio-metrric and it only took 20 minutes for both of us.

The lady at Bio-metric counter told us to come back in 1 hour and 30 minutes.

11:10am, we left the PEO and I went to drop off my wife and children at home in Birmingham

12:40, Came back to PEO and my documents were ready for collection.

Collected my documents happily and left the PEO.

I am happy to answer any questions.

Adil2009 Case worker asked me cohab documents spanning over last 24 months which includes both our names. I gave him bills, electrol card and bank statements and he was happy with the documents I supplied.

Well, in your case you can open a joint bank current account, that will get you month statements on both your names.

Get letters from your GP for both of you that will help.

Get a telephone line on joint name, that will produce a monthly bill.

Your can also get internet connection on joint name.

I hope it helps.

Sman Thank you. I didn't submit any P60. Case worker didn't ask about it.

Case worker only asked about following.

LIUK
employer letter with SOC and Salary
3 Months Salary Slips
3 Months Bank Statements
Cohab documents.

I hope it helps.

adil2009 This is absoutely correct, cohab for last 24 months is not a mandatory requirement for work permit holders. I have read few posts where dependent just joined the work permit holder and their ILR was approved.

I guess it would be good to give them some proof that you live together.

I hope it makes sense.

BTW, When is your appointment and where it is, eg solihull or croydon?

adil2009 I am not sure which one to take LIUK or ESOL. But trust me LIUK is so easy, if your wife can read english without knowing the meaning she can pass LIUK. My wife was the same, she could read it and failed the test in her first 2 attempts and finally in her third attempt she passed LIUK.

Use hirren.info or other material to practice the test.
