14 years ILR

Hi people i think i qualify for the 14 year rule. I entered the country illegally and have been since. I have been in work on and off often cash in hand jobs. I don't have any supporting documents to prove, and no way to prove i have been working because its not been legal neither could i open bank accounts. Need help on advising if application will be successful. Thanks

14 year rule applications require substantial evidence that you have actually been in the UK for the relevent period. Without evidence to prove you have been here, you have no chance of succeeding.

thanks greenie for your reply. Well i have evidence from about 9 years ago but no evidence from 98 to 03 so will i still stand a chance? Cheers

Dear Subz599

I am sorry to hear your plight. However, all is not lost! Look for documents e.g receipts of hotel accomodations since you arrived, letters you received bearing your various addresses in UK, old bus passes which you used to travel during the undocumented period showing the dates etc. Also, you have to write an explanatory letter explaining to UKBA why you couldn`t produce "better" evidence like bank documents, hospital/Gp letters etc.
Finally, remember LIUK test, £991 and supporting letter from a respectable member of the society to confirm that you have indeed been here for that long.

Thanks for your kind and warm message, you right all is not lost i will try my best to look for any supporting documents to help assist my case and will take it from there. Also to apply do i have to get a passport as i don't have one but i can still get one from my embassy. Cheers

Dear subz599

You have to obtain a passport. Even though ILR vignette is no longer put in the passports, obtaining a passport will show UKBA that you are serious etc. Also, I think you require a solicitor or immigration advisor to help you with your type of case. These professionals will use their skill and experience to help you, considering that you have more difficulty in proving your duration of stay in the UK.
