I am completing MSc in Management this year and would like to undertake MSc in Accounting and Finance. There is no progress to the new level apparently.
Would like case pass "academic progression" on the grounds of deepening understanding and specialization?

thank you for any advise
Julie

Its up to your sponsor to justify it on your Cas.

Greenie is right. Its depends upon your sponsor. But I will suggest rather than leaving in on sponsor, think about it by yourself. Are you really making 'academic progress' by doing MSc Accounting & Finance after MSc in Management?

I think MPhill/PhD in Management will be more good and beneficial, if it will not create any other problem for you.

I highly appreciate your advise.
What do you think about Doctor of Business Administration or MBA after MSc Management?

Is there a change in the level of qualification when one moves to MBA after MSc Management?

Thank you.

MBA and MSc are same level qualifications.

Do you actually have a career goal or does it not matter and you have another objective? It sounds as though you don't if you asking strangers on a forum which course you should take.

The goal is to enhance education further. Ideally I would be interested in doing a second MSc but that is not possible due to new visa rule. Therefore, I am considering MBA, not yet sure about DBA. However, in order not to waste time with applications etc I need to first find out whether at all I will be able to study anything in the UK (as I need to meet "academic progression" requirement with the new chosen course).
thank you for any advise on this matter

But the problem is no one can say anything exactly about academic progression rule. This is something completely decided by sponsor and UKBA. All we can say 'a level up from the previous level'. For applicants, I think it’s just a matter of using common sense especially at MSc level. MSc is the level of education where you are actually starting to specialize in some specific field which can be more focused by doing MPhil/PhD in the same field, rather than starting another specialization.

If we look at it professionally, a manager should be expert in everything but it’s not like he/she has to be specialized in every field as no one is going to run any organization alone. To add professional value (without MPhil/PhD) one should get more recognition within the field. For example, MSc Finance should opt for CFA/Actuary. MSc Management should opt for Chartered Manager. MSc Banking should opt for Chartered Banker. MSc Marketing should opt for CIM. etc.

I think this is the real academic progression for genuine students and this is what UKBA want from every student rather than staying anyway in UK for 10 years to get permanent stay/ILR.
