New Spouse Visa Law. UK/EEA national should earn £18600!

Post by dhruva.dakhore » Mon Jun 11, 2012 1:30 am

Hello People,

I just read the news about new law coming in force on 9th July 2012 regarding Spouse visa applications. It willl affect the non EU family members of British or EEA national.
The Government has decided that Sponsor of a non-EU spouse, will have to earn at least 18,600 pounds a year and if they have a child the threshold will rise to 22,400 pounds, rising by 2400 pounds for each additional child.

Now only those British nationals or residents with an annual income of at least 18600 will be able to bring spouses from the countries outside the European Union from July 9, the government announced today.

Please post your comments on your predictions of implications on future applications, applications already in process. And also what do you think if someone re-applies or appeals after 9th July.

I am also posting the link to the news article.

Not applicable to those applying for EEA family permit under the EU directives. Only applicable to those applying to come to the UK under UK immigration laws as a family member of a British citizen or settled person.

For any further discussion / query on the matter, please continue in the existing topic.
