Marrying my girl in Northern Ireland?

Post by samgold30 » Mon Oct 09, 2006 1:15 pm

Hi,

I'm a Ukranian citizen and I visit the UK regularly on tourist visas. I met a British girl in London last summer and we got close, when I got home we missed each other and omeone suggested that I go there again and marry her in N. Ireland where we do not need a licence to marry.

Is this correct? Can I just go there with my valid tourist visa and marry her in N. Ireland with no problems?

If so, what is going to happen after marrige? I'm planning to stay with her then submit my papers to ger a leave to remain. Is this possible or I will be asked to leave and apply from abroad?

Thanks in advane

Northern Ireland is part of the United Kingdom and the immigration laws there are exactly the same as in Great Britain.

Why not get a fiance visa if you want to marry in the UK?
