UK Tier 2 ICT Short Term Staff switiching to other category

Post by Dimnik » Sun Jun 17, 2012 1:03 pm

Hi,
I have a tier 2 ICT short term staff migrant visa stamped after 6th april 2011 to be precise my leave to remain on this visa expires on 1st jan 2013.
Now I have 2 questions:
1. Can I switch to any other category from within UK?
2. Can my sponsor change my tier 2 ict short term staff category to long term staff category from within UK?

Please reply ASAP as my current stay is being cut short unless my visa can be swithced to some other category...

I think the answer to the second question is also "no". T2 ICT Short Term Staff cannot switch into any T2 category in-country. To change into the T2 Long Term Staff category they would have to leave the UK and apply for entry clearance from abroad. However, the cooling-off period would not apply (245GB(e)).

Topic http://www.immigrationboards.com/viewtopic.php?t=105871 also refers.

I think I need to stay out of this forum!
Have been making a lot of inadvertent mistakes .. missing out or misreading the minute details.

Fortunately, Manci has always come to the rescue, and I am thankful for that.

Post edited, with apologies to the OP.
