settlement visa to dependent parents

Post by sanrek » Tue Jun 19, 2012 12:00 pm

Hi,
I have taken British citizenship, my parents are back in India I would like to bring them into the UK as I will be able to provide them care in their old age. My father is a retired govt employee and draws pension still i send him money every couple of months to cover his expenses as his pension alone is not sufficient. I have a sister who is widowed with two kids for whom I provide support. My father owns the house that they are living at the moment, now my mother is ill and I need to provide her proper care that's the whole reason for trying this route. My question is will I be able to get settlement for my parents? if yes will there be any restriction on using NHS? what will be the time frame to obtain settlement visa?

Many Thanks,

Significant changes are being introduced from 09-Jul-12 to the immigration rules for elderly dependant relatives.

Please read clauses 118-125 of this document.

Thank for the link,
Clause 125
"Evidence that the applicant, even with the practical and financial help of the sponsor in the UK, is unable to make arrangements for the required level of care to be provided to the applicant in the country where they are living"

virtually makes it impossible to get one's parents to UK, also this simply shows that they don't value family relationship, just encouraging you to send money to them and let them die for their fate. This is cruel.

Looks like the only option for me then is to moving back to India it's like you have established yourself here in UK and now you have to start all together again :(
