moving to ireland with swedish residence card eu family meb

Post by sierra » Wed Jun 20, 2012 9:56 am

Hi I am asking this for one of my friend

British citizen married with non eu currently living Sweden with Swedish residence card for 5 years.
They are allowed to enter Ireland visa free what happens if they decided to live in Ireland can non eu spouse issued with residence card from Sweden legally stay and work in Ireland or they have to apply residence card in Ireland as well .
And if they have to apply eu4fam card will they get any benefit from Swedish residence card like can they exchange with Ireland card.
Or they have to go through same process again like eu citizen working /exercising free movement. Job letter accommodation and registration etc thanks
is it possible to move to ireland with swedish card for family member possible and what about other state any provision for this in eu directives

The rules are the same in all EU member states, or they should be.

Your friend can visit Ireland, and use the Swedish RC for entry into Ireland. If they want to remain for more than 90 days, they can be required to get an Irish RC and do something like work/study/be self sufficient.

None of this has any particular impact on their Swedish RC.
