which visa for child? tier 4 or family?

Post by 1nap1ckle » Mon Jun 25, 2012 1:03 pm

Hi there,
We want to invite my husband's child (15 years old) for a few months (under 6). Ideally, I would like her to attend the local high school.
My question is this: should I apply for an education visa under Tier 4 or family visa (VAF1B)?
Thanks in advance

So,
Which one is it?

A. You want to invite your husband child for visit?

Or

B. Do you want her to attend to local high School?

If its option A then you have to apply for a visit visa, because you can only apply for a visit visa for a visit.

If its option B then you have to apply Tier4, because if someone wishes to study in UK then they have apply tier 4 visa.

I missed one thing, that you have mentioned some kind of family visa as well.

Best is, that you decide first what you want to do. You have never mentioned you immigration status or your husbands immigration status in UK.

She cannot study in the UK at the local High school, presuming it is state maintained, either as a visitor or a tier 4 visa holder.

Thanks for responding.
My husband is now a British citizen but his daughter from a previous marriage is a non-EU citizen.
We just are going to invite her to stay with us for a little time so she can spend time with her dad. I just (very innocently and stupidly I guess) thought it would be a good experience for her to go (informally) to the local high school so she can make friends her own age... (i've not contacted the school yet).
:D

Asim I think you need to be careful with your opinions. If you are not sure about anything then it is best you not post. Insider has given the correct advise on OP's question

Yes.

I missed the point that OP mentioned "local high school".
