how about a cash bonus

Post by gohawks » Tue Jun 26, 2012 12:08 am

Doing a Tier 1 extension, employed by a UK company which is owned by a American company.
My payslips (salary) came up short, but luckily I received a £10,000 CASH bonus - from the American parent company paid directly into my UK bank account.
I have : 1) a company letter saying the bonus was paid 2) my bank statement, 3) a payslip showing £10,000 - but NO tax.

Will the UKba reject this because NO TAX has been paid YET on this.
It was period 1 (April 25 of this year) so no self assesment yet.

Thanks for the help

It shouldn't be a problem if the tax is not yet due.

Being judgemental here.
It is always nice to get paid large cash bonus when actual salary is not good enough to meet the point requirements.

Additionally, as you got the money in your bank directly from the company account, it is not a cash bonus. Cash bonus would have been where you got cash and you deposited it in your account.

Having said that, keep documents in order; and as per rules, it should be all fine.

Another point,

if company is paying you money in your account, shouldn't there be a tax deduction at source at 25th April.
I am not expert on taxation so please explore it a bit.

Good luck.
