UKBA says "When you make an SAR, it is helpful if you can say why you want the information you are asking for. This may assist us to find the information more quickly."

Is it ok to tell them that i am going to apply for 10 years long residence, so i am requesting SAR.

I dont see any problem in mentioning the reason in your SAR request application in fact I would also advice you to ask them explicitly for the Exit and Entry dates and your Visa Extensions are on time or not infact just write to them that I would like to have all the data available to me in my SAR report what UKBA holds for me in their database that's all just also mention this thing as well as it will summarise your request for your SAR.

I have not read anyones sar apart from my own. I did not ask for anything specific, but they copied the whole file and sent it to me.

CID made clear all the dates of application etc. By reading other experiences, it seems they copy all that is on the file and send it to applicants.
