Visa END Period if Passport expires before 3 years

If i am gonna apply in 2012 and my passport expires in 2013, then what will be my visa end date / year ?

I assume it will be 2015.

Can people please confirm this ??

Date on which a passport expires has no relevance to the period of leave granted.
