typographical error on sponsorship undertaking form

Post by Assist_ark » Thu Jun 28, 2012 2:06 pm

A mistake was made when answering date of birth of applicant. The "day" and "month" was correct, but the "year" wasn't. Instead of "1986", "2012" was written.

Is this fatal? Huge?
Surely, they'd know a couple of months old human can't apply.

Thanks in ad advance.

This is for spouse visa by the way.

Can I first say, how can peopl get this wrong.
These kind of things are imporant. They should be carefully checked a few times, line by line, word by word.

I hope this won't cause a problem, and they will get the correct DOB from passport.

I hope you didn't complete the SU07 from UKBA website for spouse visa, because that form is to be only used for elderly dependant visas

EXACTLY!
When I got told at the visa application centre, I was surprised, because I've heard of the form, but not that its related to spouse visa.
I was soo surprised when they asked me for it and told me without it, no application etc.
They told people applying for the same spouse visa too. Surprising, especially because, I came prepared and that form delayed me submitting the application. Since I had to contact my wife to now have to print and scan with her signature on the form.

With regards the date of birth. silly mistake on my part. All in the commotion of trying to get this funny su07 form filled, made the error. Why I'm thinking its trivial or hoping it is, is because I have my passport, birth certificate, application form, transcript certificate in it that shows the correct dob. So, it should be ok, right?

I have already said what I think. Unfortunately I am not the guy who is going to decide your application, so cannot give you a definitive answer.

Also please note, I just mentioned what I think, not that there is a rule that it should happen the way I think. I guess it will depends on what view does the caseworker takes. I know applications returned as invalid because phone number field was left blank.

You will find out when you hear from them.

Well, when one can be so careless about a very important matter of their life, then I think its not cruel.

We all pay for our mistakes even if we committed the mistake unknowingly. I forget to put money in my account, direct debit bounces, I pay £50.

Forget what time I need to go back to my car before my parking time expires, I get a ticket slapped for £30. Forget to pay it within time, I end up paying £60.

That's life.

You make a mistake at work, first time. And your boss fires you for it. Unnecessary cruel isn't it?

Get what you're saying anyway. Nobody is above mistakes.
