Immigration Rules coming into effect on 9 July 2012

Post by benjamin99 » Thu Jun 28, 2012 9:01 pm

I wonder if someone can help me. I have made an application for ILR under the 14 year long residence rule at the end of May this year. So far the UKBA have only acknowledged receipt of my application and the payment has been taken from my account. I do not know what the outcome will be, but I am hoping that I will be granted an ILR.

My worry is that my wife has joined me in the UK and she has been here illegally since 2007, now over five years. I was hoping to apply for a further leave to remain for her on the basis of Article 8 after I was granted an ILR.

My question is: If I receive my ILR after the 9 July, will these new rules affect my wife's application for further leave to remain and if so, how, and what can I do?

I should be obliged if someone could help me with this.
