absences out of UK - EEA nationals

does anyone know how EEA nationals supposed to know (remember) all their absences out of UK for 5 years prior to their naturalization applications?
EEA passports do not get stamped when traveling around EU and or departing UK.

How does UKBA check these absences for such applications?
