14 year ILR appologies if already posted

Post by chunkybeefsoup » Fri Jun 29, 2012 7:00 pm

Sorry if this has already been covered but I am getiing conflicting

information regarding the abolition of the 14 year ILR rule.

Some people are saying it has totally gone others saying it has increased to

20 years and then renewable again (ie you can't get ILR).

I would be grateful for a response.

The 14 year rule is being abolished.

http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitec ... am-mig.pdf

Paragraph 59.

The 20 year rule is coming from the fact that if you want to argue a case under article 8 - they will consider it only after you've been present, legally or illegally, for 20 years. THEN you'll be put on the 10 year route to settlement IF you qualify under article 8.
