I'm European but my GF no and i want to move to UK

Post by Rhaegar » Sat Jun 30, 2012 1:37 pm

Ok, i will try with my best English, sorry for my mistakes.

I'm from a country of European Union and this september i'm going to move to UK.

My problem is my girlfriend, she is European but not from European Union, she want to come with me but she told me that even having qualifications ( a career ) it's very hard from her get UK VISA (i don't need visa).

I don't know what to do because i don't want to lose her, i think i'm not ready for marriage but maybe for civil partnership.

What you recommend me to do?

Thanks.

Sorry about that maybe i should post this on "Immigration for family members" but she is not part of my family.

She can't enter the UK as your partner unless you are married, or have lived in marriage-like cohabitational relationship for at least two years. Perhaps she might consider a student visa?

A Civil Partnership is for the same gender relationships. i.e not girlfriend and boyfriend. You say you don't want to lose her but you're not ready for marriage. It may depend on how much you don't want to lose her as to whether you make that commitment. :?

She is now working and have 2 careers... she is not thinking in study again, maybe i can convince her, but i don't know how much time she will want study.

Yesterday she asked a friend and her friend told her that was impossible to get visa work, thats why she is scared.

There is not other option being my girlfriend without marry?

Thanks.

In my country we have "civil couple" there is something similar in UK? There is any option?

Just marriage or get student visa?

Thanks.

EDIT: Marriage is very important for me and i want to do it by church. I think is soon but i'm sure that i will be with here forever.

Yes, but only after two years of living together with evidence. Merely being in a relationship for two years is not sufficient.

Only if she qualifies for a work permit in her own right, not as your girlfriend.

What you mean? There is any many of point system?

In that system i can help? Or she have to do it without my help?

Thanks.

Edit: I saw General, Temporaly worker, and Emplyer Sponsored... what would be the best choice for her? She have 1 year work experience and 2 careers, one of them about english. What many of Tier she should try? Tier1 as general or Tier2 as Skilled?

Thanks again for your time and your help.

I Don't understand why so complicated, in my country (spain) it's very easy..

We can't answer that about an anonymous stranger based on the limited information you have provided. It depends on her skill-set, wealth, qualifications etc. She has to look at the categories for herself and see what is the most suitable. Or set the advice of a profession who may be able to guide her.

The simple answer is that none of them are entirely appropriate for a person who merely wants to remain with you rather than pursue a profession or course of study under the conditions of the Point-based System.

She have worked on EEUU 6 months and a year in Russia, she is 23.

She have 2 careers, one about economics and other about english economics.

Then, she have to try as skilled worker (tier2) or as general(tier1)?

I looked at point calculator but she hearn very low money so i think she can't get 75 points

Thanks Casa, you are helping me a lot.

I think her only possibility is Tier 2 as Skilled Worked...

if not, it's more easy to get Ireland Visa? or the same?

What's the point of her applying for an Irish visa if you intend to live in the UK?

To change my work and search in Ireland, it's the only thing i can do if i want to be still will her.

I have no other choice, or she gets an student visa in UK or she tries in other country, i can't do nothing more, don't you think?

I don't want to broke with her cause visa, so what more i can do? Try to get student visa or tier 2 (i think tier 2 will be very very hard).

I'm starting to have headache about all of this and i don't know what to do, i don't understand why a girl with experience, language and study can't go to UK...

What you recommand me to do? She only have 30 points in study ( 2 bachelor degree) and 20 points cause age.... so she can't get a Tier 1 and in Tier 2 she can't try because there is no Bank workers needed in UK....

So i think my only opportunity is change work and try in Ireland..

Thanks for your help.
