ILR 10yr long stay–Unsure whether absent for 179 or 180 days

Post by tulips4u » Mon Jul 02, 2012 11:15 am

Hello everybody,

I am hoping to apply for ILR on 10 year rule next month. However, I am worried as one day (literally!) could make a huge difference, and hope this forum could help as its done many times before!

I took six months maternity leave in 2007.

On leaving UK, the stamp on arrival in India says 29th January 2007.There is no date of departure from the UK (as the passport is not stamped on departure here). My date of return to the UK (after maternity leave) is stamped as 28th July 2012. The problem is I can’t remember whether I left UK on 28th January 2007 to land in India on the 29th. I don’t have any ticket records. What should I do?

If I left Heathrow on the 28th it would be 180 days whereas if it is the 29th it would be 179. I cant believe this is happening for just one day!!
Please help!

Many thanks in advance.
