Switching to ILR dependant from Tier-1 within UK

Post by mkanagar » Tue Jul 03, 2012 4:49 pm

Hi,
My wife applied and got her ILR on March-2012.
I am on Tier- General visa in UK.
Now can i apply ILR as her dependant. ?

Asking this as i don't want to wait for my 5 years to complete and then apply for ILR.

We are married for more than 18 months now.
Initially we stayed in shared accommodation for which we don't have any utility bills on both of our names. But from Nov-2011, we have moved to a flat and we have all bills on both of our names.
And also we have our Marriage certificate with us.

Can i apply as ILR dependant?
Have any one encountered such scenario?
if so, can you please share some details.

I checked in the UKBA website. but it did not help much.
can you please direct me to any links that will help me. Thanks.

Mahesh

So, apply before Monday, otherwise you will. You can only apply for ILR in that category after completing the relevant residence period in that category (two or five years). You previous leave under T1 is not counted.

Before Monday? -- Is there any specific date?

You are saying that if i apply now, i will get dependant visa for 2 years and then i will have to apply again for ILR after completing 2 years?

What is the relevant residence period? Can you please explain?
Why is not applicable now?

Yes, and if you apply on Monday that time will have increased to five years.

July 9. After which date sweeping reforms will apply to the UK immigration system.
