Evidence of spouse address in-country extension

Post by rk_2011 » Thu Jul 05, 2012 5:13 pm

Tier-2 in-country extension. Wife currently as dependent and has been for the past 5 years (3 years work + 2 years as student dependent). What documents (if any) do I need to send to provide evidence of dependent's current address, i.e. that she lives with me?

The application form asks for the applicant to give their address (you write it in the boxes provided). Where are you seeing that this has to be evidenced officially or with regard to the sponsor? That is necessary for SET(O) but I can't see the requirement for an extension.

You are right about the postal form, there is no where it says to provide evidence. But with the recent online Tier-2, while I was filling it out, towards the end in the document check-list, this is what you see.

Note that when you hover your mouse over each option on the on-line, it says that no document should be dated more than one month before date of application. I only have a bank statement for my wife and a letter for the PIN from the credit card company. Some other applicants are facing the same issue (atleast 2 related posts). A clarification would be very very useful!

You can ignore it. It's not mandatory and many people may not have any of those types of document. A PBS dependant who does not drive, or have a bank account or registered with the NHS is not going to be refused because they can't provide evidence of this.

I have the same problem. The online application requires you to click yes at least two of the followings:
- Bank statements
- Credit card statement
- Driving licence
- NHS registration document
- Letter from this dependant’s current school, college or university confirming this dependant’s address.

The paper form does not mention this, but the policy guidance document does mention it and in fact says that the evidence has to come at least from two different sources. That freaked me out a bit, because I was planning to submit a bank statement and a credit card statement (both are joint accounts, so they show our names togehter), but both docs come from HSBC i.e. same source. Right now I am thinking of adding my wife to my Barclay's account as well, so that by the time we apply, we'd have something from a different source.

If you are referring to point 108 of page 22 of the dependent PBS policy guidance, then does it not appear under 'CHILDREN OF POINTS BASED SYSTEM MIGRANTS' ?? And the list of documents specified there are the same as those that were listed online and these are to prove that children have not established an independent life.

So I reckon, there is a bug in the online system, i.e. spouse is over 16 years of age but not a child and yet system asks for this question on the form.

Some clarification from senior members would be helpful.
