Re-entry on a new visa?

Post by jnj8284 » Mon Jul 09, 2012 12:48 pm

I dread how common this question must be, but I've been browsing the forums and haven't come across this specifically, so here it is:

I am a US citizen with ILE in the UK, my husband is Canadian/British
and we have been living here for the last 2 years with our 3 children.
In the last year we decided to move back to Canada by the time my
status expired (on July 26), but there are some loose ends that need
to be tied up for about an extra 2 weeks after my status is voided. Is
it possible for me to leave the country on a day trip, couple days,
whatever, and come back into the UK on a plain old visitor's status if
we're all planning to leave again within the next month? A solid answer
would probably be too much to ask for, but I'd appreciate an idea of
what my options are...

ILE is still valid if you haven't been absent from the UK for more than 2 years.

Thanks, and yes, I know it's still valid until the 26th, but can I transfer myself to a visitor visa by just leaving and re-entering before it expires?

That was ignorant, I'm sorry. I haven't given the right information. My kids have ILE and I don't.
I have a settlement/spouse visa that requires a KOL test.
