Skills for life & public funds for married non-EEA citiz

Post by apriliapegaso28 » Wed Jul 11, 2012 10:17 pm

Hello,

I'm an EEA citizen working in the UK and I have a doubt about my non-EEA spouse (who is here on an EEA2) and public funds.

Basically, she was working around 1 year (on a youth mobility visa) before we got married like 1.5 years ago, then she stopped working and has never claimed anything.

Today she went to the library and she was offered a 'skills for life' course and they told her that it was a central government programme funded with public funds.

Our doubts are:
1.a- Can she apply for this course without any problem?
1.b- and could she keep studying these courses if she starts a part-time job?
2- Which kind of benefits could she claim if she's trying to find a job now?
3- I've read about non-EEA citizen not being allowed to access public funds, but does this apply if they're married to an EEA citizen exercising his treaty rights as well?
4- and, out of curiosity, because it's not clear to us even after a lot of reading. What happens if a non-EEA access public funds? ie, can for example an EEA2 holder being rejected when applying for an EEA4 or something like that?

Sorry about so many questions, but reading a lot about it but we're still trying to understand things.
Any help with any of the questions, much appreciated...

Many thanks!!

Hiya,

I've still not managed to clarify these doubts about benefits. Maybe someone could help with the main question we have at this moment of:

Can skills for life courses affect a non-EEA citizen married to a working EEA citizen affect her somehow negatively?

Cheers...
