Hello!
So basically I ordered a bank statement from the bank (Santander) for my Tier 4 application.... and the first time, they forgot and didn't bother to send it. The second time I ordered one, they sent it for the wrong dates completely. So now I was getting worried that I need to send my visa application off, and I don't really have time to wait for a third bank statement to arrive. I went into the branch and first the lady told me just to take a mini-statement (which is not ok) but finally she agreed to write me a letter. The letter goes like this:
"Bank name and logo"
(Date of letter)
(My full name)
(My account number)
(My address)
To who it may concern
This is to confirm that the bank account stated above had a balance of over £6000 between the dates of xxxxx to xxxxx.
Yours sincerely
Bank manager's name"
And it was stamped by the branch.
I also printed out an online statement from my online banking, which has:
"Bank name and logo"
Dates of statement xxx to xxxx
(Last four digits of account)
Transactions for that time period
Stamped by the branch
My university says it is okay to send the two of them together. I have looked on UKBA website and it says that a letter from a bank is acceptable or a letter from a financial institution.
Surely a bank and financial institution is the same thing?
I am worried because it says a bank letter (but NOT a letter from a financial institution) must state that I have enough money in the account to cover course fees and living costs - the bank manager didn't specify that exactly, but she did say that the balance was over £6000, which is the maintenance that i need to show? Should she have implicitly stated the sentence about the course fees and living costs. But then if its a financial institution, according to UKBA, then it doesn't need to be stated.
(I have paid all course fees, and am extending visa for 6 months)
Is the letter ok?
Letter from a bank or building society confirming funds
A letter from a bank or building society must show:
your name, or the name(s) of your parent(s) or legal guardian;
the account number;
the date of the letter;
the financial institution's name and logo;
the money in the account; and
that there is enough money in the account to cover your course fees and living costs.
Letter from a financial institution confirming funds
The financial institution must be regulated by the Financial Services Authority or, in the case of overseas accounts, the home regulator. (This is the official regulator for the country where the institution is and where the money is held.)
The letter must show:
your name, or the name(s) of your parent(s) or legal guardian;
the account number (if applicable);
the date of the letter;
the financial institution's name and logo; and
the money in the account.
