Dependents applying later-better option?

Post by varghesejim » Mon Jul 16, 2012 2:38 pm

referring the cost page of tier1 extension visa

http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/visas ... eral/cost/

Arguably, it is better for a person to apply alone for same day service and after approval apply for dependant

Comparision

a)If apply by post for extension with dependent-1500+750 = 2250
b)main applicant apply alone first by same day service(1800) +dependant apply later(561) = 2361

Option b) is arguably better for an extra 100 quid becasue the main applicant visa will be quicker and even if it is rejected you will loose only 1800 comapared to 2250(with dependant)

makes sense?

Makes perfect sense. I had done the same. Also since the main applicant would have got extension, the dependants application will be processed much quicker than applying for both through post. So time wise as well the overall process for both applicants should take less time

@layman, I am also planning the same. In this case how early should I submit the dependant's application ?

Thanks

@msk1977 - If you are applying by PEO, apply as soon as you have the reference number for your application; or if you can wait, till you receive your BRP(which is typically 3-4 days after the PEO appilcation for straight forward applciations)
