Original bank statements, deed, paystubs experience

Post by ARandall » Mon Jul 16, 2012 6:58 pm

Hi all,
My husband has been doing battle with his bank (Barclay's) about obtaining "original" bank statements to submit in our visa application. We are also compiling everything else for our spousal visa (I'm in the US, he's in the UK) and I'm starting to get nervous about the package we're submitting.

When his friend, who works there, printed them out for him he said, "These are just like the ones you would print at home". Which I'm told can lead to immediate, non-refundable return of our application. They do not want "copies". He doesn't get them sent to him, it's a paperless world we live in, and I'm afraid the ones he has aren't going to be "original" enough. They are stamped an initialed by him (the employee of the bank). Has anyone had experience with this?

Also, we are submitting his pay history which was printed for him by his company as his pay is direct deposit. He doesn't get a physical voided check with his pay stub attached. Will this be sufficient?

Lastly, we are providing copies of the deed to his parents' home (where we will be living) and some other documents which were made by the bank where they are stored. They obviously won't give us the ORIGINAL deed to send in the post, will that be good enough? Or are there more "official" copies we can order?

Thanks for your help!
A. Randall

RE the house.

Make sure your husbands parents write a letter explaining you are going to be living there and that you have their permission (do not forget this)
Also you will need to get somebody from the local council to come and inspect the house to make sure that there is enough room for all the people to live there.
