Fathers visit to the UK who has a UK business visa

Dear all,

I would appreciate if someone can advise me in relation to obtaining the correct visa to the UK for my dad who has an Indian passport and currently living in India.

I am a British Citizen and I would like my dad to visit me for a month around Sept/Oct this year. He currently has a Business Visa (the type of visa states C-Visit) which was issued in 2003 and valid until 2013. The visa is stamped on his old Indian passport, which he says is still valid, albeit getting a new Indian passport.

Although he has a valid visa expiring 2013 unfortunately all his business ties in the UK has been lost since 2005 and his last visit to the UK was back in 2003 (when he first obtained).

My questions are below:

- Can he still travel to the UK with his current Business Visa (C-type) although he doesn't have business connection in the UK anymore? Are there any risks that if he travels in case if he is not allowed since he doesn't have any business ties in the UK?
- If he is not allowed to travel what visa should he applying for back in India and how long does it take to get?
- What are the supporting documents that he will have to provide (perhaps my invitation letter, bank statements, book tickets etc)?

Sorry to have troubled you for asking the above questions and I would be grateful to anyone who can help me as I haven't seen him for atleast 3 years.

He is 65 and has a clean immigration history and never had any problems with the police etc if this is of any use.

I'm not sure if he can really travel on business visa. The appropriate route will be to get him a family visitor visa. I think it will take about a month (could be sooner though). The document requirements are available from the UKBA website.
