Student or Schengen visa ? Spain

Hello,

I need your help, can I ask if anyone knows,

I am family member of an EEA living in the UK, I plan to study in Spain but my partner decided to continue living/working in the UK,

Do I need to apply for a student visa if I plan to study in Spain for 2-3 years

or

Can be possible a Schengen visa for long period ?
