Council tax benefit

Post by magesh » Sun Jul 22, 2012 8:02 pm

Hi,

1. Is council tax benefit different from council tax discount?
2. My wife is a full time student who came here as a dependent of me. She has 'no recourse to fund " clause in passport. She is studying in a university as a full time student. She got a council tax exemption letter from university.

I am paying the council tax regularly with a 25% discount for her.
In the Tier1 visa extension form do i need to select ''Çlaiming council tax benefits '' or not?

1. Yes, they are different.
2. No, you shouldn't select the option that indicates that you are claiming council tax benefits.
