UK NATIONAL CLAIMING BENEFITS NEED HELP

Post by alex84 » Mon Jul 23, 2012 4:19 pm

I'm planning on moving my American same sex partner over to the UK for a civil partnership ceremony. However I am on benefits, will I still be able to have her come live with me whilst being on benefits? If not, how much money will I need in my bank account to prove I can support her?

Since the new rules were introduced on 9th July, you now need to be earning a minimum of £18,600 per year, or have at least £16,000 in savings to make up any shortfall. She would also have to apply for a visa before entry.
