All, have a bit of a situation to explain which hopefully will make it easier to understand:
I live in the UK (have been here for 5 yrs, working), my dad is an EEA national and my mum is NON-EEA, I have a little sister (10 yrs old) who since my dad is an EEA national has obtained an EEA passport. Now my mum wants to travel to the UK to stay with me for a year and my little sister would go to school here. We are applying via the Non-EEA Parent route, I was wondering:
- How much funds are required to prove self-sufficency (she is intending to stay for 1 year to begin with but I was told the visa is for 5 years either way)? (she has access to about 30K GBP.)
- How can I obtain Private Medical Cover for them while they are not even in the UK (which is a requirement for this type of Visa)? Can they just sign up from there via a UK company and give my address?
- Do both of them need the comprehensive cover or just the minor (my sister)?
- Also they've paid about 500 USD for this application to the British Embassy in Ank, Turkey, is this normal? I read somewhere it was free?
Sorry for all this but your help is much appreciated, I'm sure others will benefit from this info too
Cheers,
Dan
