ILR Dependent ( ESOL + Life in the UK Test ) Do I need both

Post by amc99 » Mon Jul 23, 2012 9:43 pm

Hi all,

Need some help here,

I am bit confused after reading some contradicting statements in form
set(o) hope some one can help

I am applynig for ILR next month with my spouse. She dont have any ESOL or similar qualification but has passed Life in the UK Test, Do we need ESOL Level 3 qualification along with the Life in the UK Test certificate ? or Life in the UK Pass certificate is enough and we dont need any other qualifications

I know its very clear in the forms but some of the forms cause confusion

If your English is already at or above ESOL (English for
speakers of other languages) Entry Level 3, you can
take the test known as the Life in the UK test.
If your English is below ESOL Entry Level 3, you will
need to attend an ESOL with citizenship course at an
accredited college and obtain a relevant ESOL qualifi-cation as described in 22l-m of these guidance notes.
Dependants can show that they meet the Knowledge of
Langauge and Life requirement either by passing the
Life in the UK test or obtaining a relevant ESOL qualifi-cation as described in 23 l-m of these guidance notes.
