Please help me, UK Tier 1 Visa damaged in old passport.

I recently put my old passport for wash which had my UK tier 1 psw visa. The passport is completely damaged with the laminations off but the visa is intact(except that my photo is smudged a bit). I have a new passport which is valid.
I was planing to travel to the USA in september and dont think i have time to apply for a transfer of conditions to my new passport. Could you please let me know if i will be allowed to travel if i carry both my passports? That is the damaged one with the valid visa and the new one.
