waiting for decision of my tier 4 visa extension

What is my status when my visa (tier 4-General student visa) has been submitted for renewal.

Is it true that I still retain my former status untill a decision is received.

Can I still continue working. What part of the law says I can. Help! Thanks

Yes, but only if you applied while your leave was unexpired.
