help needed..

Post by desparate6 » Wed Jul 25, 2012 1:22 pm

My employer is willing to sponser me to a new position "RESEARCH ASSISTANT". This is at nqf level 6. This matches 2329 soc code or 2321. I have done masters degree in biotechnology. But this new position comes under PhD level in the soc codes. In this website:
http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitec ... iew=Binary

252. The PhD level SOC codes are
a) 1137 - Research and Development Managers
b) 2111 - Chemists
c) 2112 - Biological Scientists and Research Chemists
d) 2113 - Physicists, Geologists and Meteorologists
e) 2311 - Higher Education teaching Professionals
f) 2321 - Scientific Researchers
g) 2322 - Social Science Researchers
h) 2329 - Researchers not elsewhere classified

Do I need to have a PhD degree to take up this job or Is its ok to apply even the job role is skilled at PhD level?

Because I came across in the website that:
All migrants applying for leave to enter the UK from overseas must be coming to fill a
vacancy that is at or above NQF level 6 (or the equivalent in Scotland). This applies to both
Tier 2 (General) and Tier 2 (ICT). The same applies to migrants who are already in the UK
under another immigration category who are eligible to switch into Tier 2 (General). This
does not mean that the person employed to fill the job must be educated to that level, it
means that the work that person will do is pitched at that level
.

Please clarify my query. Thanks.
