Hello
I hold an Australian passport and am currently in the UK on a Tier 5 youth mobility visa. I am getting married next month. My visa runs out at the beginning of next year and I am planning on going home (before it runs out) to then apply for a dependent ancestry visa (my to-be-husband is also Australian, however he holds an ancestry visa).
I would like to change my name once I am married and apply for a new Australian passport in my married name (this is possible). I know that it is ok to have a visa in one passport and a new passport separate to this (http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/visas ... -passport/) however is it ok to have a passport in my married name and a visa in my maiden name?
If I don't change it, then when I go home and apply for my new dependant visa this will also be in my maiden name (as it will match my passport). Ideally I would like to change my name now so that my new visa is in my married name.
So I would be grateful if anyone could tell me if it is ok to change my name in my passport now despite my visa being in my maiden name.
Thanks
