Hi. I have a query regarding my HSMP application which I am intending to submit in near future. I have been working with my current employer for the last one year i.e. from Nov. 2005 till to date. However the statement in lieu of tax return issued by my current employer covers only 8 month salary from Nov. 2005 till June 2006. The amount taken in this statement is therefore a little less than the required threshold. I need to know if it would suffice if I mention this in my cover letter that the income given is for 8 months period only (which can be corroborated by the pay slips and employer’s letter) or the tax return for the remaining 4 months which pertains to the previous employer need to be given as well. Also, the statement mentions the gross salary and taxable salary. The difference between the two figures is the exempt salary. Which figure is to be considered by the case worker, the gross income or taxable income in the tax return? I would appreciate if anybody elaborates these issues in order for me to submit a successful application.
