Retention of South African citizenship SAHC London

What I want to ask is if SA High Comission in London would accept copies of passport and I.D. book certified by The Post Office? (which now offers Identity Document Checking Service)

I do not have time or will to travel to London and have to take a day off work to make the application in person (where SAHC clerks can certify my copies for free).

I need to send it off by post. Anyone with experience or knowledge?
