Applying 20 days before the expiry of VISA?

Applying 20 days before the expiry of VISA?

My Tier1 (General) is expiring in first week of October. I am looking for applying via post around 15th Sept as I would be getting August salary by that time. Could you please advise if applying before 20 days of expiry is considered OK?
